The center opened in September 2025 and is not operating at this time due to a medical situation involving our director. We will share updates here as future plans become clearer.

Our Program

Structure, rhythm and learning at Playa Vida Learning

PROGRAM DETAILS

Playa Vida Learning was founded in El Zonte, El Salvador as an active learning community serving children ages 4–12. The program is designed for families seeking a thoughtful alternative to traditional schooling, with an emphasis on curiosity, connection, and real-world learning.

Within this model, students can learn in small, mixed-age groups through guided projects, daily outdoor time, creative work, and integrated academic foundations. Instruction is bilingual, with an intentional balance of structure and flexibility.

PVL prioritizes relationships, hands-on learning, and emotional development, offering a calm and engaging environment where children are supported in growing academically and personally.

DAILY RHYTHM

At Playa Vida Learning, the daily rhythm is structured to balance focused learning, movement, outdoor time, and community connection.

The schedule below reflects the framework used during operation:

8:00 — Doors Open / Arrival

8:30–8:45 — Opening Circle
Community check-in where each student has the opportunity to speak. This time is intentionally used as a meaningful adaptive learning moment. A short focused message or lesson addresses real-time student needs and strengthens group connection.

8:45–9:30 — Learning Block 1

9:30–9:50 — Outdoor Time

9:50–10:30 — Learning Block 2

10:30–10:45 — Outdoor Time

10:45–11:30 — Learning Block 3

11:30–12:15 — Lunch
(Giggle Group, ages 4–6, departed during lunch.)

12:15–1:15 — Learning Block 4

1:15–1:30 — Outdoor Time

1:30–2:30 — Learning Block 5

2:30–2:45 — Tidy & Tasks / Pick-Up
Shared responsibility, closing tasks, and transition home.

  • Mathematics through games, real-world problem solving, and workbooks

  • Project-based learning that integrates literacy, math, science, and practical skills through real-world projects

Projects evolve over time and may include experiences such as gardening, publishing and selling a book, sewing and textile work, and other hands-on initiatives that connect academic skills to real-life contexts.
